With over a decade of experience in filmmaking, Fred D. Nettles is a seasoned storyteller who brings history, culture, and the human spirit to life through the lens of his camera. Based in Conway, Mississippi, Fred’s filmmaking journey is deeply rooted in his Southern upbringing and his passion for preserving untold stories.
Fred holds a Master of Arts in Southern Studies from the University of Mississippi, where he honed his craft in documentary filmmaking and sports history. For the past ten years, Fred has dedicated his career to capturing authentic, compelling narratives that often go overlooked in mainstream media—stories of resilience, triumph, and community that resonate with audiences of all backgrounds.
As the founder and executive director of Front Porch Stories, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and sharing stories from the heart of the South, Fred has created a platform for emerging filmmakers and storytellers to connect, learn, and elevate their voices. His work is defined by a deep respect for Southern culture, a focus on underrepresented communities, and a commitment to creating films that inspire and transform.
In 2020, Fred launched The Segment Live, a podcast series that brings creatives, athletes, and entrepreneurs into the spotlight to share their journeys to success. Through these interviews, Fred offers insight, encouragement, and actionable wisdom for the next generation of filmmakers and storytellers.
